Privacy Policy

Stubby ("we," "us," or "our") operates the Stubby mobile app. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Stubby, how we use it, and the choices you have. Stubby is free to use.
1. Information we collect
When you create an account or use the app, we collect:
- Email address: to create and manage your account.
- Password: stored securely as a hash. We never see your password.
- Name and phone number: optional, stored in your profile.
- Property information: the address, property type, year built, square footage and appliance details you enter.
- Task data: the maintenance tasks you create, complete or track, with any notes, materials and costs you add.
- Questions you ask Stubby: the questions you ask in Ask Stubby and the tasks you ask about.
- Shopping list items: products you add to your monthly list.
- Email preferences: whether you have opted in to seasonal tips emails.
2. How we use your information
- To run Stubby and its features.
- To personalize your maintenance calendar and Ask Stubby's answers to your home.
- To send task reminders as push notifications, if you turn them on.
- To send seasonal home maintenance tips by email, only if you opt in. You can turn this off at any time in the app under Tools, Notifications.
- To respond to your questions and feedback.
- To improve Stubby, including our task library and recommendations.
- To send important messages about your account.
- To keep Stubby secure and meet our legal obligations.
3. AI features
Ask Stubby and Shop for This Task are powered by Claude, an AI service from Anthropic. When you use them, your question and the details of the task (such as its name and any appliance information) are sent through our server to Anthropic to generate a response. We keep a log of the questions asked so we can improve our task library and understand common home maintenance needs. We also use it to apply the monthly limit on AI questions. This log is not sold or shared for advertising.
4. Affiliate links
Stubby participates in the Amazon Associates program and may participate in other affiliate programs. When you tap a store link, we may earn a small commission on qualifying purchases at no extra cost to you. Store links take you to the retailer's website, which has its own privacy policy.
5. Data storage and security
Your data is stored with Supabase, a cloud database service. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
6. Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only:
- With service providers who help us run Stubby: Supabase (database and accounts), Anthropic (AI features) and Expo (push notifications). They may use your data only to provide their services to us.
- When the law requires it, such as in response to a court order or government request.
7. Push notifications
If you turn on push notifications, Stubby sends reminders about your home maintenance tasks. You can turn them off at any time in the app under Tools, Notifications, or in your device's settings.
8. Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time in the app: open Tools, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and your data right away. If you can't get into the app, see how to request deletion.
9. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. To make a request, email privacy@stubbyapp.com from the address on your account and tell us what you need. We will respond within 30 days. California residents have rights under the CCPA, and residents of the European Economic Area under the GDPR. We honor all applicable privacy laws.
10. Data retention
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data immediately. Copies that remain in our database backups are removed as those backups expire, within 30 days.
11. Children's privacy
Stubby is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Stubby after a change means you accept the updated policy.
